How can you have more fun next year?
Reimagine — December 31, 2023
Can having fun save the world? We think it’s a good place to start.
We loved a recent article in The New York Times that explored what it means to have true fun. They broke it down into three key components: playfulness, connection and flow.
“When people experience these three states at once — in other words, when they have true fun — the effects that they report are almost magical,” writes Catherine Price. “When people are having actual fun, they report feeling focused and present, free from anxiety and self-criticism. They laugh and feel connected, both to other people and to their authentic selves. Fun feels good, and it’s good for us.”
We’d even take this one step further: fun is good for the planet. When we’re depleted, burnt out, and joyless, we are much less able to be a part of the big changes we want to see in the world. How much more fully could we show up for ourselves, our loved ones, and our world with a little more fun to fill our cups?
Plan one fun thing to do in Q1 of 2024. Put it on the calendar. Text your besties. Book the dang thing. Do whatever it takes to make fun a priority in the new year.
